JORDAN PAYNE: THE UNITED KINGDOM'S NATIONAL JUNIOR DRAG RACING CHAMPION
"My name is Jordan Payne. I am seventeen years of age and race a Junior Dragster in the UKs National Junior Drag Racing Championship. I am both the driver and owner of the car, being the only Junior driver in the country to fund my own racing without the financial support of my parents. Instead my racing is funded with the help of my sponsors, who have been generous enough to support me with my racing.
In total I have three chapionship titles to my name, including 2016 UK National Championship Winner; 2016 SPRC Divisional Championship Winner; 2017 APIRA Divisonal Championship Winner.
In 2018, as well as racing my final season in Junior Dragster, I am looking to begin testing in my Father's Competition Eliminator Corvette, with the vision to race the Corvette full time throughout 2019 and onwards.
I am looking forward to another action-packed race season in 2018, and am excited for the challenge of claiming myself another National Championship!
As well as my achievements in the motorsport of Drag Racing, I have also chosen to take part in a wide range of extracurricular activities.
Earlier this year I was presented with an Arkwright Engineering Scholarship, to help enhance the value of my education in engineering. I am one of the 400 scholars picked from a total of over 3,500 applicants.
Since the age of six I have also been studying the martial art of Wado-ryu Karate. Through my hard work and dedication, I have achieved the rank Black Belt Third Dan.
With my school I have achieved a great amount also. I have completed my Bronze DofE, and in April 2017 I became the first RAF Cadet in the country to fly solo in a glider since the RAF 'paused' cadet gliding in 2014"
